Summer months bring plenty of fun, but sometimes fun can mean spending money, maybe even more than you have! Using a prepaid card is a great way to stick to a vacation or ‘summer fun’ budget.  You load the card with funds upfront, and then you can only spend what’s on the card—so there’s no risk of overspending. The new American Express Prepaid Card has no activation or monthly fees, is safer than cash and can be replaced for free if lost or stolen!   You can get the card online and use it for everything from gas to groceries at millions of locations that accept American Express.

The card also comes with some of the same benefits you’ve come to expect from American Express —like Roadside Assistance, Purchase Protection, Global Assist and Amex Selects. The card is also a smart budgeting tool —you can view real-time transaction history, monitor spend, and receive alerts when funds are low or a when a transaction has occurred.

And you can get one for yourself and for others— like elderly parents, family members, colleagues, babysitters and contractors.

    We do lots of fun activities but always make sure to pack our own food/drinks if allowed so that we don’t have to pay the expensive prices at parks/etc

    I went to the prepaid American Express card and checked out the card. I think that it is a great idea! My tip is to budget a specific amount and decide as a family how that money should be spent each month. It could be used for 1 really special family fun trip, or spread out throughout the month!

    I visited the American Express Prepaid Card website & checked out the card. My tip is to only eat out when you can get a discount on groupon/restaurant.com. there’s no reason to pay full price on meals!
