DIY Best Friends Necklace with FREE Printable Design

The bond between two girlfriends, or a group of girlfriends, is something special. Every girl should celebrate her band of besties - and what better way than with a best friends necklace she can make herself - and split into as many pieces are needed. If you wanted to make these as anklets you could easily adapt this DIY Anklet Tutorial by swapping these medallions with the sea stars.

Supplies To Make Your Own "Besties" Necklace Charms

  • Jewelry Chain or Necklace Cord (both shown here)
  • Jump Rings
  • Hole Punch
  • Scissors
  • Shrink Plastic
  • Paint Brush
  • Mod Podge
  • Markers or Colored Pencils
  • 2 pairs of pliers

How to Make Your Own Best Friends Necklaces

Start by printing out the Free Besties Printable onto the shrink plastic. Using an inkjet printer, you can print directly onto the rough side of the plastic. Cut out your shapes.

Print out besties medalion

Color in the medallion. You can have fun using different colors in the S which doubles as an 8 - the symbol for infinity.

Cut the Besties medallion into as many pieces as you'll need.

Cut the Besties circle into pieces

Punch a hole in the corner of each piece. (Be sure you do this before shrinking it down.)

DIY Jewelry Best Friend's Necklace - Punch holes into each piece

Shrink in the oven following the directions on the shrink plastic.

Bake your shrinky dink medalions according to instructions

Once the pieces have cooled, add a coat of Mod Podge to the rough side of each piece. Allow to dry.

Add coat of Mod Podge to your necklace pieces

Use a jump ring to attach each piece to the necklace chain, or necklace cord.

Pass out the pieces to your group of besties - be sure to keep one for yourself!
