I love to cook with my kids-we practice measurements, talk about changes to the food when cooking, and combining ingredients. I love the science idea on the website!
Tweeted both links.
I’m gonna take their advice and not correct my children so quicklly when they are wrong about something but instead ask them questions about their answer to get to the right answer.

I like the section on “help children think like scientists”. I also would add that I work with agronomists, crop scientsts and soil scientists and I talk about this with my children, their teachers, and their friends, and many say that they didn’t realize all the career avenues — that a scientists is more than a lab coat — you can work in a field, swamp, etc.

PBS is really the only station we watch in our house. My son LOVES the children’s programming on in the morning. We will be doing a lot of Science in the Backyard this year. Especially the digging and finding type activities.

I visited the site and I think I’d like to experiment with my son while making his very own recipe for cookies, he would love that! He always enjoys helping out in the kitchen so this will be a great activity to reinforce his love of STEM!

I think a great way to help your kids love STEM is to take them to your local kids museum…My kids always love the fun things they can do there and so many of them are STEM related without them even knowing! Check your museum website for free or discount days
