I think it is so crucial to keep the dialogue going with teens-open the lines of communication-and let them know you love and support them, no matter what the circumstances. They need to be nurtured and guided-even more so than when children are young because there are so many issues facing teens today. Make sure they know you love and accept them for the wonderful person they are and will become!

I think it’s important to look for positive role models for teens and point them out. Go online and research, find people that they might admire (other than sports figures and pop stars) who are actually famous for doing good things through their education. Keep trying, and you can eventually find someone “cool” that your teen can admire for the right reasons. Positive role models can have an incredible impact!

Most kids lack a support system at home with Moms and Dads. Teachers have to actively encourage and praise kids for any efforts they make.

Visited Tipping Bucket & watched video: this is an innovative online micro-lending program to help support motivated at-risk teens to strive for higher educational goals; perhaps a summer work-study program could be incorporated to help them in their weak academic subjects while providing the structure & remuneration of employment.

Watched the video. It would be nice to be able to get involved to help donate to help at risks teens. They need motivation to know they are an important part of their communities.

Every kid has a passion or deep interest in something, I think finding that and encouraging it is a great way to keep kids on the right and path and shows them that someone sees something great in them.
