Monday Twitter Party: Celebrate #gno’s 5th Birthday

Five years ago, my friend and fellow blogger Carissa Rogers convinced me to try out Twitter. We learned the Twitter ropes together Girls' Night Out style with a few other fun blogging friends. What started as a fun way to gather as girlfriends online mushroomed into a regularly scheduled online chat, bringing thousands of women all over the globe together and generating millions of impressions each week. I never imagined at that time, September 2008, that five years later I'd still be tweeting it up and that my husband, @TroyPattee, would join me for the online journey.
Since that time, we:
- Have had more than 350 Twitter parties with more than 200 sponsoring brands.
- Raised $15,000 for mompreneurs in Kenya by hosting 10 live events in markets from San Diego to New York City with hostesses we met online at our Twitter chats.
- Have had Twitter parties aboard Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas; from Guatemala, France, India, the U.S.; and at the evo Conference.
- Formed Mom It Forward Media, a digital agency that connects brands with families via social media, including not just Twitter parties, but ambassador programs, blog tours, conferences, live events, and social media strategy and execution for small to medium-size businesses.
- Co-founded and hosted three evo Conferences between 2010-12 in Park City, UT.
- Founded and hosted the inaugural Family Forward event in Orlando, Florida just last month (August 2013).
