Big G and Atari: Tuesday #gno Twitter Party on Retro Memories

Sweat bands, leg warmers, big hair, neon accessories, Atari…who didn’t love the 80s? In celebration of a great decade, Big G cereals are bringing back their “Retro” themed packaging for the fifth time, 80’s style. That’s right, starting February 7 through mid-March, while supplies last, these limited-edition Big G cereal boxes are sure to turn heads down Target’s cereal aisle with their totally radical retro look.

Whether you enjoy it in a bowl with milk or use it to bake tasty treats, cereal has been a staple in kitchen cupboards across America. So many different varieties of cereal have been introduced throughout the years and can still be found on store shelves. These brands have been a part of our popular culture for decades!

In addition to conjuring fun childhood memories through the Retro program, Big G is also making it easy for families to get whole grain. Big G cereals, the ones with the white check, contain at least 9 grams of whole grain, with at least 48 grams of whole grain recommended daily. Cereal is already one of the healthiest breakfast choices you can make and the entire Big G cereal line is made with whole grain. What’s not to love?

One of the most important parts of childhood is the opportunity for unstructured, outdoor play. Regular outdoor play makes kids healthier, happier and smarter. The Children in Nature and play movements are gaining momentum with local outdoor play groups, governmental campaigns, raised awareness of Nature Deficit Disorder, and the renewed emphasis on outdoor experiences and recess as part of school.

Summer camps have long known the social, emotional, and intellectual benefits of time in the outdoors. Camp not only gives children the opportunity to play outside, a summer camp experience is one of the best ways to create authentic relationships, build community and respect, to realize that learning is fun, and to be physically active in a healthy, supportive environment.

Choosing a summer camp is a big decision for many parents. Even though there might still be some snow on the ground, now is a great time to start planning for your child’s summer camp experience. It is important that the selection of a camp accommodates all or some of the needs, interests, goals, and expectations of both parent and child. By doing this, you can ensure that your child will have a happy and healthy stay at a summer camp.

Even though many people have good intentions, a few weeks pass by and they are right back to square one. How does one stay on track and maintain a healthy, active lifestyle?

Together Counts is a nationwide organization that is trying to help families find ways to live an active and healthy lifestyle together. They encourage families to find a balance in their lives. Whether you are taking time to sit down at dinner or doing an activity together, it is important to connect with each other as often as possible and help each other stay balanced.
