Fabulous Grilled Fig Dessert

foodsweet treats

First I have to say how cool the Mom It Forward community is. I've made some great connections and found amazing inspiration from ladies all around the world just like me. I'm so happy to be sharing one of my favorite desserts with the Mom It Forward readers, my Grilled Fig Dessert.

We recently had a family dinner, and at the end, grilled these gorgeous figs, topped them with mascarpone, port sauce and pistachios.

Fabulous Fig Dessert Recipe by Eat Drink Eat blog

Ingredients

Here's what you will need:

  • 12 figs
  • 12 oz. mascarpone
  • 3 tbs brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups port wine
  • 1/2 cup pistachios

Serves 6

Directions

Start out whipping the mascarpone and sugar until light and fluffy. If you make this ahead of time, leave in the fridge until about 1/2 hour before you serve.

Make your port wine sauce by just reducing it over medium/low heat. Once reduced by half, remove from heat and set aside. This will take about 10-15 minutes

Skin and roughly chop up your pistachios.

Slice the figs in half.

Heat up your grill to about medium/high heat. Place sliced figs face down on the grill for about 2 minutes or so. You'll want to see some grill marks so you can taste the char on the fig.

To assemble, place about a teaspoon of mascarpone on the grilled fig, top with a drizzle of the port sauce and some of the pistachios.
