Family Fun: 3 Days of End-of-Summer Fun

Summer is coming to a close and I'm sure there are still few to-dos to cross off your list for summer fun. Finish your summer off with a bang and plan a few days to celebrate the end of summer. Here are a few things you can do to finish off the last few weeks of your summer.

Day 1: Plan a Picnic in the Park

Go to a nearby park, pack a lunch, and bring a blanket so you can lie down and relax. Enjoy yourself and your surroundings. Play some games with the kiddos and eat lunch together. Be creative with your lunch items and make it fun for your children. Have some water balloons or water guns and start a water fight. Getting soaked in the heat of the summer always feels wonderful!

Day 2: Go to the Zoo

What child/adult does not love the zoo? Taking your children to the zoo can bring education into their day and help them learn more about animals. Learning about all the different animals and noises they make is a fun hands-on way to learn. While at the zoo, read the signs about each animal. These signs will tell you if the animal is endangered and where they come from. Enjoy the fresh summer air.

Day 3: Camp Out in the Backyard

Pitch a tent in your backyard and have a camp out. Camping in your backyard gives you that vacation feeling but with less clean-up. Roast marshmallows on the stove in the kitchen and tell scary stories in the tent. When I was younger, my mom would plan for us to sleep outside and I have such great memories with my family doing this.

How do you celebrate the end of summer with your kids? What are your favorite traditions?
