The great taste of your favorite Fall drink made at home - Pumpkin Spice Latte!

Ah, the Fall. Kids are back in school, their sports and various activities are underway, football is on tv and the holidays are just around the corner. Ooh, did I freak you out there? I scared myself just a wee bit when I typed that last part about the holidays!

One of the best things about each change of season is the special flavors that accompany it. Fall just screams apples, turkey and pumpkin! Maybe you're one of those people who was super excited when that large coffee company released their seasonal Pumpkin Spice Latte a little earlier than usual this year. Did you rush to your closest coffee shop to get your fix?

Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte
Makes 2,  10-ounce drinks

Ingredients for Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte

  • 3/4 cup brewed strong coffee
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin puree
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice mix
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 1/4 cup whole milk
  • whipped cream and caramel sundae topping, if desired

Making your Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte

  • In a large bowl or measuring cup, whisk together the pumpkin puree, sugar, spice mix and vanilla.
  • Add the coffee and mix until the pumpkin mixture is thoroughly combined and dissolved.
  • Place the milk into a warm bowl and microwave in 30 second increments until it is steaming, about 1 1/2 minutes. The milk can also be heated to steaming in a small pot on the stove over medium-high heat.
  • Whisk the milk until slightly frothy and then mix in to the pumpkin coffee mixture.
  • Pour into two mugs and garnish with whipped cream and caramel if desired.

Take the time to treat yourself. You deserve it. You're a woman with a busy and sometimes hectic schedule. Take time to smell the coffee and relax. Maybe it will be after you send the kids off to school or while junior's taking his nap or maybe you'll even be able to steal a few moments for yourself when you come home from work. Whenever it will be, take advantage of it, recharge, and celebrate you and all that you do while sipping your Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte.

How do you enjoy your coffee this time of year?

My goal with 365 is to excite you with food and move you into the kitchen if you aren't already there. It's fun, delicious and can be quality time spent your family as you cook and bake together, and then enjoy what you've made around the family table. I look forward to having you join me in the kitchen!
