Winter Craft Project: How To Make Snowman Mugs to Celebrate World Day of Snowman
mom • crafts • crafts • kids crafts
One of my favorite things to collect is snowmen. When I heard it was World Day of Snowman, I couldn't help but get a little bit giddy. I love snowmen! Over the years I have collected snowmen ornaments, cookie jars, plates, ceramic figures, and towels. I love when the weather starts getting cold and I can pull out my snowmen collection and not only enjoy each item, but the memory of how I obtained each piece.
This year, my kids and I decided we wanted to do a snowman craft project. Our family has been drinking a lot of hot chocolate lately because the weather has been so cold in Utah. For our snowman craft, we decided to decorate our own snowman mugs. This project was super simple and the kids had a lot of fun coming up with their own designs.
How To Make a Snowman Mug
The first thing you will need to do is go to your local craft store and purchase a mug decorating kit. The Webster Group puts out one that is called Precious Mugs. This kit comes with two mugs and six Perma-Coat Markers. I have more than two kids so we ran to our local dollar store and found 2 more white mugs so everyone could have one.
Draw your design on your mug. The marker only takes a few minutes to dry so remind your kids to be super careful. As far as I know, there is not a way to erase mistakes. Who cares if you mess up. I think it gives the mug character. Once your mugs are dry, you are done. I liked that this project because it didn't require baking or clean up time.
These mugs were a fun way for each of my kids to express themselves. This was also a fun project to show our love for the beloved snowman. You could make mugs for just about any holiday. Mother's Day, Father's Day, Birthdays, or for a teacher's gift. Here is one that my son made for his dad!
What craft projects do you enjoy doing with your kids? How will you celebrate the World Day of the Snowman?
