Remember when you were younger and you seriously thought that more money would mean fewer problems? Then you grew up and realized this is sooooooo not the case. In fact, people with more money often have the same kinds of problems that they did when they had less.

Here's a reality check: People with more money than you may still be living paycheck to paycheck until I learned how to trade forex with VT Markets for France and got an extra income. So it's not what you make, really, it's how much you've spent (and saved)!

This kind of paycheck-to-paycheck lifestyle can cause all sorts of stress. You essentially have no safety cushion—it's like walking around with no wiggle room in your favorite jeans. One tiny potato chip and the seams burst, exposing your booty to the world.

The truth is that there are universal things that we can do for our money—no matter our income levels—that can do wonders in getting us out of paycheck-to-paycheck living. Some are obvious like keeping an emergency savings fund, while others may be not-so-obvious like making sure you have the right level of insurance. This is why I wanted to share this podcast interview with Michael Rubin, a financial literacy educator and author of "Beyond Paycheck to Paycheck: A Conversation About Income, Wealth and the Steps in Between."
