Touch’d by a Kind and Giving Heart
my world • moms making a difference
Rachel Ferrucci thinks giving to others is a natural things Especially when we are talking about empowering women and boosting moms. " I will help moms with whatever I can, whether it is to sit for a child, help plan a party, give a connection, or just listen when they need to vent," she explains.
And she isn't exaggerating. She can easily tick off the many charity dances and events she has helped to organize with non-profits that hold a special place in her heart, like the American Cancer Society, Leukemia and Lymphoma or Diabetes. She does these in honor of family and friends. Most recently, she has worked extensively with a local Women's Shelter. Once she met a young woman with 2 small children who had the courage to leave an abusive relationship with only the clothes on her back. Rachel knew she had to get involved, "When you reach out to another person and you're able to help them, you get a sense of self worth which helps you to succeed in whatever ventures you are seeking."
Rachel is like a poster child for Mom-it-Forward...even before Mom It Forward (momIF) officially existed. But now that we are here, she can't resist getting involved with us too. She is the President of the Northeast Chapter of momIF and even recently organized a local event to raise money for the women of Kenya.
Rachel even had women in mind when she started her own business, Touch'd a few years ago, "We all get in ruts, especially moms, because life is so busy and we sometimes forget to take care of ourselves. Touch'd is a way for people to pamper themselves and feel great. It is a big circle; when you feel great, you carry yourself with more confidence, which radiates out for others to see." Rachel creates handmade organic sugar scrubs, soasps, salt soaks and moisturizers.
Married to Rich for almost 25 years, the couple have 2 amazing daughters—Carissa and Courtney. Rachel beams with pride when she talks about her girls -and there is no doubt she is sharing her giving spirit with them as well.
