Easy Grilled Asparagus Recipe

When the weather is nice, the kids want to spend all evening outside and I want to be with them.  I want to play, hang out, enjoy our backyard, and sip an iced tea.  Having several meals that I can make completed out on the grill gets me out of the kitchen and spending time with my family.  It's quick and easy and I also just serve it outside for summer al fresco dining.  I love long summer days because our backyard is the place to be when the sun starts to set.

Easy Grilled Asparagus Recipe - Simple ingredients for the side dish!

Last week I shared my Grilled Creole Chicken that was such a huge hit with my family and I served this Easy Grilled Asparagus with it. We use our grill several days a week during the summer so it seems fitting to make our side dishes out on the grill too.  There really is nothing to it and works with so many different veggies such as broccoli, zucchini, potatoes, onions, tomatoes, eggplant, the list goes on and on.  The only change would be the cooking time.  Once you learn how easy this easy {and how flavorful the vegetables are} you will be trying to grill all your veggies!

You'll be surprised at the wonderful flavor that grilling brings out in your vegetables. Even the pickiest of kids {and adults} will love their veggies this way. This really is the only way we grill our vegetables.  No need for fancy sauces or marinades....you only need 3 ingredients for this amazing and quick side dish!

Creole Grilled Chicken & Asparagus - 3 ingredient side dish

Ingredients for Grilled Asparagus Recipe:

  • 1 bunch asparagus
  • 2 tbls olive oil
  • 1 tsp sea salt or garlic sea salt
  • grill basket (opt, but totally worth it)

Simple Directions to Make Grilled Asparagus:

1. Wash asparagus and cut off bottom 1/3 of each stalk. Preheat grill to medium high heat.

2. Add asparagus to grill basket (or place directly on an oiled grilled...make sure to oil grill before preheating). Drizzle asparagus with olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt.

3. Place grill basket over medium heat and cook for 5-10 minutes until asparagus is tender but still holds it shape. Rotate often and don't worry if the tips get a little dark.

Serve with grilled chicken, steaks, or burgers!
