Is Service Sexy? Take This Week’s SOS Challenge and See!
10 Fashionable Ways to Make a Difference This Week
Service doesn’t have to be stodgy! Make service sexy and “in” by taking on this week’s Summer of Service challenge, sponsorsed by Lifetime TV. How? By doing one or more of the 10 ideas listed below!
- Buying or making some beautiful stationary and writing a thank-you note, congratulations card, birthday greeting, get-well wishes, or other thoughtful sentiment and delivering it to a friend or family member.
- Planning a date for your significant other and getting all dressed up for it.
- Taking care of yourself inside and out: Treat yourself to a new hair-do, mani/pedi, spa treatment, or makeover. Pay attention to your overall health and well being.
- Have your family pictures taken.
- Treat your daughter(s) to a spa day. Paint their nails for them, wash their hair, help them try on different outfits, and have a special luncheon just for them
- Decorate the table beautifully for a special family dinner you plan.
- Go through all of your closets and give any old or unused clothing to charity.
- Comment to one person each day during this week’s challenge on how beautiful he or she looks. Watch the difference it makes in their countenance.
- Have a family activity where you share the things that make each of you beautiful on the inside. Share with your family the importance of internal and external beauty.
- Encourage your children to take care of their outward beauty by eating well, exercising, getting enough sleep, and taking care of their health!

I love this challenge. My daughter and I have plans for Mommy – Daughter Day this weekend. We are going shopping at the mall, doing lunch, and having a girls night where we primp, and do nails, and watch movies… such fun & great bonding for us too!

I am taking one of my besties out for a mani/pedi this weekend to help relieve stress from her wedding planning.

I will be doing #7 and #3 this week! I generally give unused clothes and items to GoodWill at least once a month anyways but I think I’m due! Also, I am getting married in September so I will be trying hairstyles and makeup this week for my big day (and bringing two of my deserving bridesmaids with me)! Thanks!

I already did #5 with my girls today at the local nail salon–mani/pedi’s all around! I also recently did #7, benefiting local women’s shelter–we had 14 bags of stuff! #2 date night with DH is planned for Sunday night, and #10 is always preached and is ongoing in our busy household!

I took my 19 year-old daughter out for a girl’s day out shopping for new clothes, then I came home and cleaned out my closet and loaded up some bags for this week’s donation pickup.

Our family of 4 spent a whole weekend making our backyard look like a park. then we celebrated by having a campfire, roasting hot dogs, popping popcorn and making rootbeer floats! It was a very precious weekend and it makes me smile when I think about it!

I’ve cleaned out my closet and will be donating a large crate of clothing to a local group home or women’s shelter. I’m writing thank you cards that will be delivered to friends and family. I always try to encourage my children to eat well, get enough sleep, exercise and take care of themselves. I’m going to try to tell someone how beautiful they are each day this week.

And it’s not this week but my friend and I have a pedicure booked for next Tuesday!

I’ve done and I’m still doing #10. I think it is something that needs to be reaffirmed at least every other day but in different ways. My son is 7 and I want him to realize just how important it is to eat well, exercise, get plenty of rest, which helps to lead to good health.
