Donating Hair For Charity – Disney on Ice and Great Clips
giving back • bettering communities
Have you or someone you know ever experienced hair loss? I have a close friend who went through chemotherapy and lost all of her hair as a result. In the beginning, it was devastating for her; she felt like every time she looked in the mirror she didn't recognize herself. It took some time, but after a few months she embraced her new look and focused her attention on getting her health back. I have always admired my friend for the courage and strength she showed in that difficult time. Now you can help people just like my girl friend by donating hair for charity to a campaign to benefit children with hair loss (CWHL).
In honor of the new production Disney On Ice presents Dare to Dream featuring Disney’s new princess—the long, golden-haired Rapunzel from “Tangled”—Disney On Ice and Great Clips invite the Salt Lake City community to participate in a heart warming hair donation campaign to benefit Children With Hair Loss, a non-profit organization that provides customized human hair replacements and care kits at no cost to an average of 300 children annually.
Hair donations (at least 8” long) will be accepted at participating Great Clips locations throughout Utah on Saturday, Feb. 23, from noon to 4:00 p.m. In appreciation of the generous donation, each donor will receive a free cut and blow dry, in addition to two complimentary tickets to see Disney On Ice presents Dare to Dream, while supplies last. There will be 300 tickets made available for 150 hair donations.
The central downtown Great Clips salon (located at 906 E 900 S in Salt Lake City) will provide salon services for donations from noon to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 23. The first 25 hair donors at this location will receive a princess crown, two complimentary tickets to see Disney On Ice presents Dare to Dream along with a special invitation to a private meet & greet with a Disney princess on the show’s Opening Night, Wednesday, March 6.
WHEN: Saturday, February 23, from 12-4:00 p.m.
WHERE: Great Clips – 906 E 900 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84105, (801) 575-8580.
Doing something as simple as donating your hair to someone that really needs it is an easy but meaningful way to give back. My sister's hair grows really fast and she donates her hair several times a year. This has been such a fun way for her to serve others.
What are some of the ways that you give back in your community?
