Positive Thinking: A Billion Clicks
I like to think I am a pretty positive person. When I think about my life, I consider my glass to be half full. I know people that constantly think about what they are lacking, or don't have. These negative thoughts consume their lives and leave them feeling like they have been cheated or their glass is half empty. What type of person are you? Are you consumed by your negative thoughts on a daily basis, or do you try and look at the good in everything around you. A few weeks ago I was given "The Clicker" by Hilary Weeks to track my positive thoughts. It has actually been an interesting experiment to click how many positive thoughts I have during the day.
Let me back up for a minute. Last summer my family and I were camping at Cherry Hills in Farmington, Utah. Hilary Weeks was giving a concert at the amphitheater there and shared her story about "The Clicker". In an effort to eliminate negative thinking, Hilary decided one day to use a hand held clicker and track how many negative thoughts she had throughout the day. She shared that after clicking for half a day, she started to get really depressed. She said the more she focused on the negative, the more horrible she felt.
The next day, she started tracking her positive thoughts. Have you heard of the phrase, "You are what you think". Well, I totally believe this. If you concentrate on your positive thoughts through out the day, you are going to be a happier person. I love the thought of this, "Click, Think, Be". Here is a fun video that Hilary put together to talk about her "Billion Clicks" experiment.
(and if you want to see her behind the scenes story you can see that video here too)
