Gift Wrapping: How to Make Big Bows
It is the gift giving time of year and that usually means bows and presents galore. But what about those big pretty bows we see on wreaths and doors? They look big, extravagant, and difficult to make but they're not as hard to make as they look. Here is one style of bow using large wired ribbon.
How to Make Big Bows
Supplies:
- 1 ribbon cut to approximately 26" long
- 3 pieces of ribbon cut 24" long
- 3 pieces of ribbon cut 20" long
- 1 Piece of ribbon cut 7" long
Directions:
For all the pieces, except the 26" ribbon, fold over and staple each side.
Once you've stapled your ribbon, all the pieces are ready to be combined.
Gather the three 24" pieces and put them on top of each other.
Gather the three 20" pieces and put them on top of each other.
Gather your small piece and put it on top of those.
Fold and twist the 26" piece and put it behind those.
Now, it is time to tie all the pieces together. You can use a regular garbage tie, but zip ties are even better.
Hold the bow in middle and start to form each side.
Here is the finished product; I used the same technique on each bow.
Do you make your own bows for your gifts and decorations? What technique do you use?
