Enjoy Sightseeing on the San Diego Harbor Cruise

family funactivities

When you think of going to Southern California, going on a harbor cruise might not be the first thing that comes to your mind. On the last day of our summer vacation, we decided to make sure we exposed our kids to a little education. San Diego is rich in history, and learning. We didn't know a lot about the harbor and the San Diego Harbor Cruise allowed us to spend a lazy morning on a boat, and take in the sites and sounds of the harbor.

While we on the boat, we received a narrated tour by the ship's caption. We enjoyed the best sightseeing on the San Diego Bay covering 50 storied landmarks. We covered 14 miles on the water, passing Seaport Village, Shelter island, ship-building and dry-docking facilities, Coronado Island, Point Loma, and Cabrillo National Monument, among many others. On our trip, we saw marine animals and sea birds, and talked about what local environment efforts are doing to protect them. They even offer snacks on the ship. The tour was very educational and informative.

Hornblower Harbor Cruise

UndercoverTourist.com is a great resource when you are planning a family trip. This site is now covering several Southern California attractions! This was really convenient for us. When you go to this site, you are able to purchase discounted E-Tickets ahead of time so you can take them to the HornBlower ticket office and get a boarding pass. They offer next day delivery or pick up options for your tickets.

While you are on their site, Undercover Tourist gives you a brief explanation about the excursion you are researching. It tells you the availability of the excursion and helpful tips for what to expect. We haven't been on the San Diego Bay before. On the site, they suggested taking coats because it can get cool on the water. I am so glad we had this information, because it was a little cool until the fog cleared.
