Marriage: 3 Ideas To Keep the Romance Alive (That Always Work!)

relationshipslifestyle

If you have been a parent for any length of time, you understand how much time parenting takes. Before getting married and before having children, you and your spouse had almost unlimited time together. But that all changes once children come into the picture!

One of the main issues with keeping romance alive is the sheer lack of privacy. Children seldom allow privacy in the home, especially during their younger years between two and seven years old. When there is no privacy, there is often little room for romance. But this simply means a lot more creativity is needed in order to keep the passion alive. Here are some ideas for doing just that.

How to Keep the Romance Alive

Have a Date Night

This is an idea that you have probably heard before. But is it something you are taking the time to do? This can really be a life-saver for a marriage. Don't think that you only have to go to fancy restaurants, either! Take a picnic with your special one and pack some sandwiches. This can often produce some better memories anyway.

Ask Your Children To Help You

If your children are old enough to spend some time alone in their room(s), ask them for their help. Ask them to play on their own for just a little while. Then, take some time with your spouse to just sit on the couch and talk. It is so easy to get caught up in the busy-ness of life that we forget to take time to just be together. Try not to talk about the latest work details or current events, but instead try to talk about some fun memories from the past. Remembering good times from the past is a surefire way to bring some romance into each day.

Do Something Special For Your Spouse Each Day

The more unexpected you can be, the better. Try thinking outside the box. Maybe one day you can surprise your lover with a foot or hand massage. Or perhaps on another day, you can pick up a bouquet of your spouse's favorite flowers. These simple acts can make all the difference in a marriage.

Remember to be creative. One of the greatest challenges in a marriage is the daily routine. Boredom can creep into a marriage if there is nothing to fend it off. Do not sit back and just watch TV every evening. Make the extra effort to do something special for your spouse and you will be greatly rewarded for it. You will likely find all these little things will make your spouse feel incredibly special and in doing so, you will be lighting fires of romance that can burn for days and weeks and months to come.

What are some simple things you do to keep the romance in your marriage/relationship?
