Recipe: Mint {or Peppermint} Oreo Hot Chocolate

foodsweet treats

Hot Chocolate—Merry Christmas! I hope everyone is enjoying time with family and loved ones today. And, hopefully, Santa has been good to you. 🙂 This year, we are spending Christmas at my parents' house and my three siblings and their families are here, too. Seventeen people under one roof ... let's just say it's been cozy! And extremely fun!

Every Christmas morning after opening presents, my mom and my grandma make a feast of a breakfast: Pork chops, biscuits & gravy, fruit, and hot chocolate. We usually start sipping on hot chocolate while waiting for breakfast. We've been doing it for so long that Christmas morning just wouldn't be the same without a warm cup of cocoa. This year, though, we're changing it up. Instead of our plain old hot chocolate, we're throwing in Mint Oreos (or the Peppermint Oreos if you can find them). Can hot chocolate get any more festive?

This will be the creamiest, best hot chocolate of your life! You just need some Cool Mint or Peppermint Oreos. The Peppermint ones can be hard to find, so I went with the Cool Mint ones. Green, minty, and festive for the holidays. But if you can't find either, the regular Oreos will work perfect, too! They even have regular holiday Oreos that are filled with red creme that would be fun and festive as well.

To make it, you simply place your milk, hot chocolate powder, and four to five Mint or Peppermint Oreos in a blender. Blend away until it's smooth and there are no chunks of Oreo. Then, just pour the milk into a saucepan and heat on the stove top until warm—just be careful not to scald it.
