School is back in session and a crisp breeze is starting to blow through most of the country. Fall is here and winter isn’t too far off. Now that summer’s bounty is fading, we’d love to know how you craft balanced meals and stay active with your family.

Eating together as a family can be extremely difficult during these hectic days and eating a balanced diet on top of that can prove to be a real challenge. Fruits and vegetables are powerful sources of antioxidants that can be paired with family favorites from the pantry or freezer to create a meal that brings every member of the family rushing to the table. How do you maximize items in the pantry or freezer to ensure a nutritious meal is still being served outside of warmer seasons? And with everyone in the house running from school to work to extracurricular activities, how do you carve out time as a family to be active together? With a jam-packed schedule, finding time to make the annual trip to the pumpkin patch or toss a football around outside can be a challenge.

Together Counts is a national organization whose goal is to help families find ways to live an active and healthy lifestyle together. The principle behind our program is Energy Balance, which means balancing the calories we consume with the calories we burn. Calories in, calories out. Together Counts was started by The Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation, a national, CEO-led organization, designed to help reduce childhood obesity by 2015.
