Kids Recipe: Bacon Ranch Chicken Pizza

recipesfood

Instilling healthy eating habits in children is usually a pretty tricky feat for any parent to master. Kids are notorious for only liking foods that generally don’t qualify as healthy or nutritious. Instead, foods like chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, and noodles loaded with butter tend to be little kid favorites. But while you might not have much success pushing a plate of vegetables at your toddler, nothing teaches kids good eating habits like getting them in the kitchen at an early age and allowing them to get involved in choosing and cooking the meals they eat.

Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza

So, try cooking as a family as much as possible! Odds are that kids will be much more likely to be adventurous with the foods they eat if they have a hand in making them. This recipe for Bacon Ranch Chicken Pizza is the perfect dinner to make with your kids; it only requires 5 ingredients and 15 minutes of prep time, so kids won’t have time to get bored. And you can feel good about serving it, too. This pizza is much healthier than anything you’d get from the delivery guy and tastes even yummier. Enjoy!

Bacon Ranch Chicken Pizza

Hands-On Time: 15 minutes – Total Time: 40 minutes – Servings: 6 (1 slice each) – Calories per Serving: 314 – Protein: 17g

Ingredients:

  • 1 package (16.17 oz each) Chef Boyardee® Cheese Pizza Maker Kit (single pizza size)
  • 1 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup chopped cooked chicken
  • 3 tablespoons ranch dressing
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 3 slices fully cooked bacon, heated and crumbled

Directions:

Preheat your oven to 425°F. Prepare pizza dough from the cheese pizza kit according to package directions. Spread the dough onto a 12-inch round nonstick pizza pan.

Top the dough evenly with pizza sauce from the pizza kit; sprinkle with mozzarella cheese, chicken, and the cheese topping from the kit. Bake your pizza for 20 minutes or until the crust is browned and crisp.

While the pizza is cooking, combine ranch dressing and water in a small bowl; drizzle the ranch mixture over the top of the pizza. Kids will love stirring and drizzling the ranch, but just make sure you’re watching them while they pour it over the pizza so it doesn’t come out in one big puddle! Sprinkle the pizza with crumbled bacon. Cut into 6 slices.

Serve with a side green salad for a healthy, balanced dinner that you and your kids will both love.
