Recipe: Easter Egg Dough-Nests
If you don't like to spent too much time in the kitchen or are looking for a fun treat to make with your kids, I have one for you. I just got a doughnut maker for my birthday last week and decided to create a fun Easter treat with it: Easter egg dough-nests made from chocolate doughnuts!
Easter Egg Dough-Nests Recipe
You can use any doughnut recipe you'd like and just add the special touches to decorate! I used a Chocolate Donuts Recipe from Real Mom Kitchen.
Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups cake flour
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 2 Tbsp canola oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
In large mixing bowl, mix all dry ingredients together (getting out the lumps), then add the liquid ingredients. Pour the batter into your doughnut maker (I use a measuring cup to pour the right amount of batter). The doughnuts took approximately 3 minutes to cook in my doughnut maker.
Decorating: I frosted the doughnuts with a small amount of vanilla frosting, dyed some coconut green and sprinkled it over the frosting, and used pastel Reeses Pieces eggs to decorate.
What sweet treats are you serving this Easter at your table?
