Fashion: Summer Makeup Trends
Spring has sprung which marks the beginnings of gardens being planted, white denim resurrected, and your bright makeup colors can be dusted off and put to use. It's time for summer makeup trends. Every year around this time I become a little over-enthusiastic about wearing bright colors, I blame it on the fact that they've been in hibernation all winter. Regardless of the reason, now is the time to be wearing that bright lipstick.
When I say bright I am not necessarily referring to fuscia. It means "Ladies, step away from the oxblood" (the slightly creepy vernacular used to described the must-have color for winter '13). Bright encompasses a spectrum from pastels to neons, all worthy competitors for the prime real estate that is your face.
This season we are seeing a major influx of pastels in makeup. A slight throwback to the seventies, pastel lips were seen from the runways to the catalogs as the latest must-wear for spring/summer makeup trends. I will warn you, this pastel look is not for everyone, particularly if you are a gloss only kind of gal. However, skip the pastel lip and opt for a pastel shadow. Either of which can easily be achieved with one product, a white pencil.
Layering a white pencil under your lipstick or lipgloss will instantly transform your color to a playful pastel. Take that same pencil and use it as the foundation for your eyeshadow (that's right, color it over your entire lid from lash line to crease). Layering your powder shadow over the white will give it that same pastel hue.
