It is Fall - the leaves are changing, the temperatures are going down, and we are spending more time in the house as a family. My family likes to put together puzzles, assemble giant Lego sets, and do art projects in the evening when we are all home together.

3 Fun Fall Family Art Projects

1. Carve a Pumpkin

Since it is October we have a built in project that is always fun to do with family and friends. There are so many different ways to make your pumpkins unique. You can find inspiration with face clip art online, enlarge or reduce the design to fit your pumpkin, cut the design out, trace it onto the pumpkin, and carve. Last year we painted our pumpkins and were able to keep them all the way through November because they stayed fresh with no cuts. One year my whole family did 1 pumpkin together. We each took a turn drawing an element on the pumpkin using a dry erase marker and then my husband cut it out. It was one of our best pumpkins ever!

2. Make a Family Tree with Leaves.

Go for a walk as a family and find twigs and leaves that have fallen from the trees. Using paper cups and clay stand your twigs up. Start by writing the names of family members on each leaf. Make sure to get enough leaves for each of your siblings, parents, and grandparents (or more!). Punch a hole on the end of each leaf. Tie the leaves to the tree. The youngest generation goes at the top of the tree, the parents at the second level, and the grandparents at the bottom. This makes a great centerpiece for a family dinner or even for the kid's table at Thanksgiving.
