8 Ways to Bake the Perfect Cupcake

contestsfoodsweet treatsclubs

I love cupcakes! I have been craving them all week, and finally decided to give in and make me a few. I used my Pillsbury Funfetti cake mix and icing. Pillsbury has so many fun colors of icing for spring.  Whether you make your cupcakes from scratch or from a box, here are 8 ways to bake the perfect cupcake.

8 Ways to Bake the Perfect Cupcake

  1. Find the perfect recipe - I have made cupcakes from scratch. But now that I work full time, I don't have a lot of time. I have turned to boxed mixes recently and have not been disappointed. Pillsbury cake mixes always turn out moist and delicious. They help me make cupcakes quickly without compromising flavor. For my Easter cupcakes, I choose to use Pillsbury's Funfetti flavor. The Funffetti flavor has colored sprinkles in the mix. It reminds me of confetti. Who wouldn't want all that fun in a cupcake? The colors in the mix really popped the spring colors that I added as my decorations.
  2. Follow the directions - Even if you are using a boxed cake mix, you need to follow the directions. It is easy to over mix your batter and the results you get will not be desirable.
  3. Preheat your oven - Don't put your cupcakes in a cold over. You want to make sure that you put your cupcakes in a pre-heated oven so you can make sure you are cooking them at the desired temperature for the allotted time.
  4. Don't overfill your liners - There is nothing more disappointing then pulling your cupcake out of the oven and it is too small or not the perfect shape. Filling your liners about 2/3 of the way full will help you control how your cupcake turns out.
  5. Divide batter evenly - I like to use a scooper when I am dividing out my cupcakes. This way I ensure that all my cupcakes are the same size and shape.
  6. Check cupcakes at the minimum baking time - In order to make sure you don't over cook your cupcakes, check with a tooth pick at the minimum time to insure they are done.
  7. Cool cupcakes on a wire rack - If you leave cupcakes in the baking tray, they could continue to bake when they are cooling and will dry out quicker.
  8. Store Correctly - Most boxed mixed cupcakes can be stored loosely with plastic wrap. If you make them from scratch, put in an air tight container to store.
