Valentines Day Hair Accessory

craftsholidays

Valentines day is one of my favorite holidays because I love all the pinks, reds, and purples. My daughter is very girly and I always make her hair bows and other accessories.  This holiday season I wanted something that would be cute and special for my daughter to have that we can make together and she can make her friends for Valentines day. We will of course have to find something for the boys, but that should not be hard. These will be great gifts for all the girls because what girl does not love a beautiful hair accessory?
Valentines Day Hair Accesory
This craft is a hair accessory that is very simple for your child to make on her/his own with a little assistance from you. You can also make these extra glamorous if you would like and add other embellishments such as jewels, bows, tulle, additional ribbon, etc.

Materials Needed

  • Foam (in desired colors, Wal-mart has these for $.33 a piece)
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Ribbon
  • Hair Tie
  • (Optional)Heart Template - I used a cookie cutter to trace our hearts

Directions

  • Trace or draw your hearts onto your foam sheets. You will need 3 different sizes.
  • Cut hearts out and layout desired hair piece.
  • Glue pieces together and allow to dry.
  • Cut two slits in the very middle of the hair piece to thread ribbon through the middle of the piece.
  • Once you have one side through the hair piece add your hair tie to the ribbon and either tie in a basic knot or make a beautiful bow, and your hair tie is complete and ready to wear!

You can also add extra jewels to jazz it up or additional ribbon to make a bigger bow. The designs are endless with this cute accessory and your little one will love to express her fashion and design her very own Valentines Hair Accessory.
What fun ways do you like to dress up for the holidays?
