Tweens: Ottilie & Lulu Slumber Party

momreviews

I learned several years ago that tween girls don’t want games and crafts at a slumber party. And they rarely want to watch movies anymore. Mainly they really just want to spend time together…talking, talking, and talking (preferably with out grown ups around). Beware, they are very loud!

What would you do with an Ottilie & Lulu pack of tween hair and care pack for six? Talk about a perfect  excuse for a slumber party! My girls started making their guest list right away. Then we made the hard decision of when to hold the party. Since we were staging a Staycation Vacation for spring break this year, that week was perfect.

The Makings of a Spa Slumber Party

  • 6 young girls packed into the basement
  • Tween Body Glow Lotion
  • Tween Shiny Silky Detangler & Conditioner
  • Tween Feel Good Shampoo & Body Wash
  • Tween Clean Skin Face Wipes
  • Very little mom involvement
  • Hopefully sufficient closed doors to contain the girlie screaming joy and silliness!

Take all that fun tween spa pizzazz and six tween girls, stir it all together, and get out of the way!

I’m pretty sure the whole evening was a hit. (Not that the mom was allowed in the room or anything.) I could tell from the squeals and screams of course. But I did sneak in after the hair washing and managed to snap a few photos of the uber silliness.

The Products

Ottilie & Lulu products are geared towards the tween set, they contain natural ingredients, and help young girls get into an early habit of cleansing their faces and taking care of their skin. The wild mint and lavender fragrance is perfect for young girls. Not too heavy and yet just enough grown up to make them happy to have ‘grown up’ stuff.

As a mom I liked the face wipes the best, a great way to easily clean their faces each day. And yes, I tried them out myself a few times too. (Shhh... don’t tell anyone.) My 10-year-old daughter said: “I think they smell good!”

Also, what a great habit to get kids into by encouraging them to use a moisturizer with SPF in it. The Everyday Facial Moisturizer has an SPF of 20.

“The most important thing you can do for your face is to moisturize and protect it from the damaging rays of the sun--everyday.” –Ottilie & Lulu

The Prices and Shipping

The price of the Ottilie & Lulu products are a little in the pricey range. However I believe the quality of the ingredients makes it worth the price and the size of each container is generous. My girls are encouraged to be a bit frugal with their beauty regimen, and it seems that a small amount of the Ottilie & Lulu products goes a long way. Plus, this is a small boutique-run company and I really like supporting a start up.

My favorite thing about any online product is Free Shipping. Another added bonus is that purchases over $25 come with free shipping! The other benefit of a small company is they are likely to care about their customer. Try asking them some questions Ottilie & Lulu on Facebook and Twitter.

How do you make tween slumber parties fun? What ideas have your kids loved? Have you ever thrown a spa slumber party for your kid(s)? What did they love most about it?
